We've been at Caerhays collecting our winter evergreen cuttings this week which includes Dacrydium cupressinum, Freylinia lanceolata, Podocarpus Young Rusty, Cryptomeria japonica 'Elegans' and many more. We've popped them into trays and slotted onto our heated bench. We use a very similar method for our softwood cuttings which involves removing the bottom leaves, slightly marking the stem and dipping in a rooting hormone. However, with the species such as decrydium and freylinia you have to pop them into seed trays instead of plugs, this is because they have such long foliage that they need to lie flat over each other to grow in a uniform way.
